WYD Tour Diary 2011

Hi everybody!
This is just a little page to try and capture a slice of what it’s like when all six of us get on a plane and fly to Europe for a week of shows…
Hope you like it!

Day 1. I, Mike, wake up at 7am to pick up my buddy Dave and drive from Milwaukee to Chicago Ohare. Our plane is going to philly..the airport that i have been to more than any other besides O’Hare. We get on the plane…a hail storm comes by for 20 minutes and we have to deplane for damage. Bad news…yes BUT we are then given a direct flight from Chi to Madrid on Air Iberia. Nice, I always wondered what that airline was all about. Turns out it flies, serves small snacks and has good wine. That flight is delayed but whos paying attention. I have been forever changed by the Philippines flight…all 28 hours of Philippines travel has made anything else childs play. Plus the band has been on the road a lot this summer so this flight flew by (intended). I didn’t sleep a wink, it was over before it began…! Man I should of slept! We get in, get our passes, get food, talk with organizers of the fest…then Dave and I had one of the most romantic and delicious tapas dinners we have ever had in the history of our friendship. So here I am, 2am in Madrid, listening to mid eastern music and writing you…the listener. Who are you by the way? well, who ever you are, I love you and lets pray tomorrow will be incredible, by the experience so far, i think it will. Just got off the phone with my brother Tom in Charlotte NC…they have been delayed 4 hours. Looks like its going to be a great trip for all
