Certain venues may require passes for entrance.
Although the visit was short, and the show was shorter, we managed to do something that had a chance to last. For 30 minutes we meet in a storage warehouse above a hat store and filmed three songs with our friends OurvVinyl.com. Two new and one old. Both beautiful and fulfilling in a simple half hour time. My only regret is passing that black fedora on the way out…. Enjoy!

Yes….it is… MM&TU head out.. oh, yea, by the way this year we refer to Mike Mangione & The Union as MM&TU..its faster and a WHOLE lot cooler. MM&TU had their time off, drank their coco (although winter still has not hit the Midwest..), opened their gifts, gained their pounds, fell in love/out of love and back in love with their families and now its time to share what they have learned with you. The band hits the road this Friday with a show in Excelsior, MN and then Eau Clair… both known for their beaches and tropical climate. Then they play some hometown love shows in Chicago and Milwaukee…and Cedar Rapids and Dekalb…and.just check out the tour section.
See you on the road!
XOXO MM&TU HQ
While on tour out east we had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful people from Eartotheground Music. After our show, we sat for ahwile, talked about the band, music and the yearning for this all to make sense. Next thing we know a beautiful write up appears…..thank you Casey
Well someone needed to introduce the band….! Might as well be this video we found from the one and only GodfatherHootie
Hey all, Mike and Tom had the air to themselves last night on Chicago’s WNUR 89.3 radio. It got warm and cozy in the cold Chicago studio. Want to hear?
Listen to WNUR: Airplay program with Mike and Tom Mangione
Big thanks to WGN, for a great time as the Midday Music artist. We had to play a little earlier due to the post-election mayoral coverage so for those of you who may have missed it, or wanted to see it again, here’s the link to the WGN TV page:
As promised, here’s a link to the recent appearance of Mike, Tina and Patrick on 88NINE Radio Milwaukee’s 414 MUSIC program with host Mark Keefe:
Mike, Tina and Patrick sounded great on 88.9 Radio Milwaukee’s 414 Music on Thursday. We’ll have a link up to a recording of the broadcast soon, but in the meantime, why not visit the Radio Milwaukee website and vote for Mike Mangione & The Union is the 2010 Listener’s Poll and have our music sent to WYEP in Pittsburgh as part of the Packers Super Bowl win.
Even if you’re not a Packer fan, you can still let the Iron City know that they need some Mangione on their radio.
(“Girl From the Midwest” has already been suggested!)

Mike Mangione & The Union are on Pandora! If you have a Pandora account make your “Mike Mangione” radio station today.
If you don’t have an account, its about time you do!
Recently, Matt Hart stopped by to interview the band for the MidbyNorthwest blog and did quite a fantastic job of it. (Ever try to interview 6 people while they are chowing down on fresh popcorn and ice cold Vernor’s? It ain’t easy…)
Read the interview here:
Due to bad weather in the Midwest, Mike wasn’t able to make it to NYC for the Sirius show. But, he was able to call in for an interview and debut two new songs from Offering: “At Your Gate” and “The Offering.”
The Pacing The Cage blog out of Louisville had some nice things to say about Tenebrae and believe us Mr. Ben Schneweis, we want to get our new release “Offering” out as soon as we can. A little birdie told me that some sweet digipaks are on their way back from the pressing plant and could be here very, very soon!
:: Visit “Pacing The Cage”
Blurt magazine had this to say about Tenebrae:
“The album’s finest cut, however, is the six-minute “The Killing Floor” (an original, not the old blues standard). In it a luminous, almost Daniel Lanois-esque arrangement gradually builds in intensity until Mangione, clearly in the throes of passion, slides from an earthy growl into a heavenly falsetto as he repeats the word Hallelujah over and over; it’s a little bit Leonard Cohen, a little bit Jeff Buckley, and maybe even a little bit Van Morrison, too. At that precise moment, any doubts you may have entertained over whether or not Mangione is a deeply soulful cat are completely erased.”
:: Listen to The Killing Floor.
Tom Mangione and Vince Scheuerman from Army Of Me try “double salted” black licorice. In Pt. 1, Mike Mangione tried it. Pt. 2 is Tom’s turn!
